Evening folks,
Just a short post to say well done again to the 18 presenters this afternoon. We saw a lot of great work in progress, such as some updated blogs, new ideas, developing research, reflections on time management challenges, tone and feel of the finished product, confident presentations and generally a lot of positivity.
It’s OK to say you’re doing well, it’s OK to be self-critical, it’s OK to acknowledge you need to be more engaged with your studies and it’s OK to be somewhere in the middle of all that too!
The crunch hits when the deadline for assessment 1 is looming, so the session served (I feel) a really strong purpose today.
I liked hearing about how each presenter is strategising their approach to this module. Writing a blog post a week could be handy. Leaving sufficient time to check your work is essential. Trying new things is punchy and welcomed. Learning from each other is encouraged. Aiming for perfection is admirable.
There will always be challenges and that’s what learning should feel like. It can be uncomfortable at times, but equally, much pleasure can be derived from strong planning, experimentation and creativity.
Everybody should be confident in their ability and choice of topic and there will inevitably be more twists and turns as the weeks go by!
Next week we will listen to the remaining 14 interim talks, look at some troubleshooting issues and an added bonus section too. More about that on Wednesday coming.
The following Wednesday (30/3) will be a session on effective and ineffective oral presentation delivery, dissecting the second assessment brief and discussing any supplementary points associated with that.
On 6th April I’ll do a session on FAQs for assessment 2 and chat with you on a one to one basis in class before we break for the Easter holidays / Spring break.
Keep on keeping on; most of you are really putting a shift in which is pleasing. For the members of the class who are perhaps not as actively engaged, now is the time to step up the work rate. Preparation and effective time management is most certainly likely to win the day.
Have a great evening and if there’s anything you’d like to feedback on regarding the talks today, please make your comments below. All commentary welcomed, as always.
Yours aye,
Mark
Well done everybody and any comments from the presenters on 16/3/22 will be of assistance to those members of the class delivering on Wednesday coming. Any feedback on the session welcomed. Cheers, Mark
ReplyDeleteI found this really useful as it gave me an insight into how others were managing their time between now and the due date. I got some really good ideas as well as some things to think about!
ReplyDeleteIdeal Freya, that’s exactly the type of comment I was hoping for! The interim talks are just that, try something out, have a go, take the positives and the room for improvement critique too. That is how we learn, by listening and being proactive. Thank you for your comment, Mark
